What's In A Name?

One of the tough things in life is naming something. It does not matter what it is. When the time to attach a name actually arrives, you begin to realize the importance of the naming act. It is a defining act - both for the something and for you. And you will have to live with that name for you have given that something structure.

So how did we come up with the name "Been Wandering"? Well, in fact, the "wandering" part was relatively easy. Our last sailboat was named "Vagus" which is Latin for "The Wandering" - a very apt description of our travels and travel philosophy (and my sense of direction - J). However, "Vagus" was often confused with a place better known for slot machines. On the plus side though, we also got to know a number of people from the medical profession (See Vagus Nerve). So Vagus was out and wandering was in.

Now the "Been" part was interesting and was mainly solved by searching for names still available in the blogspot listing. Since we will already have "been" somewhere prior to posting , we thought "Been Wandering" fit. And nobody had as yet appropriated it.

We plan to update this site with postings and hopefully lots of pictures on an approximately weekly basis during our travels. Providing of course, we can find internet facilities.

Our first Wander will start in about two weeks when we will head South for warmer weather. We hope to do a quick run south far enough to camp, then slow down. We will be primarily exploring State Parks in Southern Florida through February and March, and then head back up the East coast in April. So much for plans.

So we hope you enjoy the site. If you have any comments, please click on the comments icon and we will try to answer them when we have internet.
